As we grow as individuals, our mental and physical resources become more and more depleted with each year.
Creating space for rest or ‘downtime’ is vital to avoiding burnout.
Here are some of our top tips for where to start:
1. Set an alarm
*Set an alarm to wake up 15-30 mins earlier than usual. Avoid technology and use this time to make a cup of tea and set yourself up for the day with your thoughts.
2. Set reminders
*If you are working from a desk space either at home or in the office, set some alarms throughout the day to remind you to go outside and get some fresh air. However busy you may be, your mind will appreciate the fresh perspective and you will return feeling energised.
*Turn off notifications on your phone after a certain point in the day. Often our home and work lives merge into one. Creating two separate spaces for each will enable you to flourish in both zones.
*Finally, stop and look at what tasks you are doing that can be delegated to others. Asking for help isn’t a sign of weakness and it’s often someone else who can inject more energy and focus into the jobs you don’t have time for.
