What better place to start than with an explanation as to how I got here.
I set up MV Assistants back in 2017 when I found myself living in South Africa, exploring a new and exciting venture having just left my very stable job of 7 years working as a PA in London.
I was at a very comfortable point within my career whereby I knew how each day would go, I felt in control, yet a small part of me was craving change and a new challenge. This feeling never disappeared, so one day I decided to address it. I gave in my notice and booked a one-way ticket to South Africa.
For the first part of my South African adventure, I took some time to ease into the new slower pace of life, which was well and truly welcomed! I was in no rush to return to work as I felt like I deserved a much-needed break to reconnect and recharge before discovering my next venture. What started to become very apparent to me, was that people in SA lived rather protected & private lives. People socialized in small arranged circles, in which you needed an invite. This was a very different set-up to my energetic & fast-paced social life in London, where connections were made organically and new opportunities presented themselves weekly.
When the time came to begin thinking about work again, I realized I would have to be proactive. I thought about my experience and how even though I was now based in a new country, what remained the same were my services & tools. These were still available for me to continue working, virtually!
That’s how MV Assistants was born.
When people ask me, how do you make it work? The answer is simple: I have taken the best communication & organisational tools available, and humanised them. My energy and enthusiasm for my clients still remains the same.
Despite physical interaction holding great importance to a working relationship, what is truly vital is accuracy, proactivity & reliability. There is an ability to feel close to somebody through the immediacy of technology.
